Do the ideas of the 1960s still have relevance today? Warm-Up! Foldable-Up!Everyone needs a sheet of computer paper. Fold the sheet of paper in half, hot dog style. Divide the sheet into 12 vertical units. Cut the paper so that you have 12 flaps. On each flap, write ONE of the Supreme Court Cases from the Warren Court.

Little Rock Nine -- Little Rock, Arkansas, The governor ordered troops from Arkansas National Guard to prevent the nine African American from entering the school. After she was jailed, the Montgomery bus boycott was organized. Montgomery Bus Boycott -- In 1955, after Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a city bus, Dr. Martin L. King led a boycott of city buses. After 11 months the Supreme Court ruled that segregation of public transportation was illegal. Martin Luther King Jr. -- Civil Rights Leader. Born in Atlanta. Developed a non-violent approach to social change after studying others like Gandhi. Founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Gave the "I have a Dream Speech" at the March of Washington SCLC -- Southern Christian Leadership Conference, churches link together to inform blacks about changes in the Civil Rights Movement, led by MLK Jr., was a success SNCC -- (Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee)-a group established in 1960 to promote and use non-violent means to protest racial discrimination; they were the ones primarily responsible for creating the sit-in movement NotesKahoot!
