Welcome to Week 6!
This week may look a little light, but if you're doing it right, you should be learning! Remember that we're going to be structuring our weeks a little differently now. (screenshot of the calendar below). This week we're looking to review Units 1 & 2. Reminders/Announcements/Due datesWelcome back! I hope everyone had a great Spring Break! Hopefully, you were able to enjoy the beautiful sunshine we were gifted with last week!
This week, we're going to do some content with Imperialism (Unit 6) and we're going to also practice DBQs using the modified rubric. Once again, I'm putting due dates, but they're suggestions. Get done what you can, when you can.
Reminders/Announcements/Due DatesWoohoo! Welcome to Week Three of eLearning! What an experience! I'm so glad to be on this journey with you! So, for this week, the main focus is COVID-19. Now that I write that, I realize, you might be tired of hearing about it. But, since I just spent the better part of 4 hours making this module, I think it's a great lesson!
A Couple Notes on the Module
Last but not least: LEQ Practice. So, this week, I received a survey from College Board. They wanted to know how effective they had been at communicating the updates on the exams. Long story short, what a garnered from that survey is that the exam will be free response questions. Although, in my defense, I was looking for answers and other AP World teachers didn't know that either. Oh well. That being said, we'll practice LEQs again. Here's an easy one for you! The sooner you get it done, the sooner I grade it. I'm not going to grade anything after Spring Break starts, just FYI. I need a break, and so do you! One more note (it's about last week, so it doesn't really count): The MCQ's from last week's PPC were not fun at all. I'll modify the grading to dark green=100, light green 95, yellow =90, and orange as 85. Don't Forget: Google Meet at 2:00 pm on Thursday! Also, don't forget to check out the new Updates Page! I think it looks pretty spiffy! Here's the list of assignments due for this week.
Reminders/Announcements/Due DatesHey! It's Week 2 of eLearning! I hope everyone is doing well! If you need anything, I hope you'll reach out to me.
Here's the agenda for this week. I'm trying to walk a line because I know that you're probably getting a lot of work from other teachers as well. You should know me well enough by now that if something isn't turned in exactly on time, I'm not going to freak out over it. I know these are weird weeks and being out of a normal routine is hard. Let me know if you have any questions about anything. Read the instructions for each item. Also: Let's think about a Conference Call on Canvas at about 2:00 on Thursday or Friday. Let me know which works better.
Reminders/Announcements/Due DatesHey! Y'all have done a great job so far!
Just a quick reminder of some things that have been due:
I know these google docs look long, but I don't know another way to transfer content. College board is coming out with some stuff to help with remote learning. Maybe next week? It might be a good idea to take notes as you go along. Actually, that a great idea. You should take notes as you go. It's not for me to grade, but for you to learn. I really like this Wealth of the Nations google doc, because it not only shows you Adam Smith's ideas, but the application of his ideas in today's economy. Reminders/Announcements/Due DatesSo, there's a lot of changes happening this week that we're going to have to drop back and punt. Just roll with it. If something goes wrong with any of the assignment, let me know. We'll figure this out together. I'm going to try to use the google for a lot. I will post announcements here regularly. I can also post to Canvas as well, but here is the first place I post. I can also try to announce on Twitter that I've posted and update. Follow me at @AmericanLipp210 or just check back here regularly.
Announcement 1: COMMUNICATION -- You can contact me in a multitude of ways: Email ([email protected]), Canvas, Remind101. Speaking of Remind101, Join my class.
Announcement 2: Put a pause on the Crash Courses. I think we need to catch up. This will probably also push our PPC back. It's OK. I'll put them on Canvas when we start back with them. Announcement 3: Revolutions DBQ -- Due on Tuesday This links you to the submission spot on Canvas. There is more information there. Announcement 4: Industrial Revolution Google Doc -- Due on Wednesday This links you to the submission spot on Canvas. There is more information there. Hey! I don't know if you've heard or not, but all schools in NC are closed for the next two weeks. That being said, do you need anything from the school to help you be successful? For my class, all assignments will be digital. You need your computer and your charger. If you do not have either one of these, please let me know. Regardless, please fill out this form. If you don't fill out this form, I will be calling home. Please save us all time, and fill out the form. 5 points extra credit to all who fill out the form by noon Monday.
