School Tardy Policy
All students are expected to be under the supervision of a teacher, every period of every day. Classes are to begin when the bell rings. All students who are tardy to first period will report directly to the office to receive a tardy pass to class. The teacher will record all 2nd, 3rd, or 4th period tardies. Tardies will be counted at the end of everyday and a Connect Ed message will be sent out. Ten tardies for 1st Period will result in the loss of the parking permit and Power U for ONE WEEK. Tardy to Third Block will result in lunch detention during Power U.
Academic Honesty
Academic Honesty requires that students respect the integrity of the academic community. Integrity is essential to trust between educator and student. Submitting work completed by other students or allowing your work to be submitted by other students is considered cheating and therefore, not permissible. It will be dealt with accordingly. Copied below is the county policy for Academic Honesty:
“Academic Honor Code
“The best academic environment is one that holds personal integrity and honesty in the highest regard. To foster such an atmosphere, the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education establishes an academic honor code. The Board believes students must hold themselves to this fundamental set of principles. The code specifically endorses two of the character traits adopted by the Board on December 9, 1996; honesty and responsibility. The Board expects all students (K-12) to uphold the following code:
“Academic integrity requires that students take credit only for ideas and efforts that are their own. Academic dishonesty occurs when a student submits fraudulent work, gives or receives unauthorized assistance, creates and unfair advantage, tampers with the work of others, engages in misconduct that hinders learning by others, cheats by any means on tests, quizzes, or exams, or engages in any other unethical academic behaviors.
“The Board grants the school principal the discretion to apply or authorize the relevant disciplinary action (e.g., the failure to receive a grade for the work or exam, credit for the course, etc.) according to the severity of the Code violation.”
Consequences for Violating the Academic Honor Code
Students caught in any of the above acts will receive a zero on the assignment.
Students sharing the answers/assignments are equally as guilty as those receiving this "help." Both students will receive a zero.
In the event of a project or assignment that is comprised of multiple pieces, cheating (of any type) on any one piece will result in a zero for the ENTIRE work.
When a student receives a zero due to any type of cheating, no alternate assignment or opportunity to retest will be given. The zero will stand.
When a student receives a zero due to any type of cheating, that student forfeits any opportunity for extra credit for the remainder of that grading period.
As a student in this class, I agree to the rules outlined in this syllabus. By signing my name below, I am signifying that I have read this syllabus and will do my best to adhere to the rules of this class.
