It tells you all about how to write a newspaper article. The requirements for your newspaper will be listed at the end of this post. The green sheet of paper I handed out to every group yesterday was to serve as a checklist. As you complete items in your newspaper, check them off the list and write in the name of the person who completed the task. ExpectationsI expect this project to be completed by fourth block on Monday. You will not have class time to work on this on Monday. I expect this project to be completed to the best of your ability. I expect this project to be completed with the highest degree of integrity. You must include citations. If you do not, then your entire project will be considered plagiarized and will result in a zero for the entire group. If you need help with citations, I recommend using Citation Machine. Reminders/Announcements/Due Dates

Read the Passage below about Theodore Roosevelt.
Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States. Theodore, often referred to as Teddy, was born into a wealthy New York family, the second of four children. A sickly child, Teddy's father encouraged him to get outdoors and be active. Teddy grew stronger and healthier and developed a love of the outdoors. Roosevelt was educated at home by tutors and went on to attend Harvard University. He married Alice Hathaway Lee on October 27, 1880. He was devastated when she died less than four years later only 2 days after giving birth to their daughter, and his mother died on the same day. On December 2, 1886, Roosevelt married Edith Kermit Carow, a woman he had known since childhood. Together they had five children. Roosevelt is famous for forming a band of volunteer cavalrymen known as the Rough Riders who fought during the Spanish-American War. They became war heroes when they charged San Juan Hill in Cuba during the war. After the war, Roosevelt was elected governor of New York before becoming William McKinley's vice-presidential running mate in 1900. The duo was elected, and Roosevelt became president in 1901 after McKinley was assassinated. At 42 years old, he was the youngest President to hold office. Theodore Roosevelt steered the country more actively into world politics. He also worked hard to break up monopolies held by large corporations, ensuring a more fair marketplace. President Roosevelt agreed to the construction of the Panama Canal and, being a naturalist, reorganized the federal Forest Service. He doubled the number of national parks, created 50 wildlife refuges and made 16 wild areas national monuments. Roosevelt was the first president to win a Nobel Peace Prize. He was awarded the prize in 1906 for his role in negotiating peace between the warring countries, Japan and Russia. Theodore Roosevelt died at the age of 60 on January 6, 1919. We will watch a section of the Ultimate Guide to the Presidents on TR's domestic policies. Write down 5 talking points. We will discuss afterwards.
Notes!
Remember, you must take notes. You can't expect to sit in a college class and simply remember everything.
Beginning a TR News Paper
As a table, you will create a newspaper about TR's life.
EVERY ONE needs to create an account onLucid Press. You can look through templates and let me know which one you want. I will then create it and share it with you (I have an upgraded account and can do it for free). Write as if this were current news. Structure of a Newspaper
Structure of a Newspaper Article Each newspaper article has a title (called the headline) that is set in large type. The writer of a newspaper article is often not credited; if the author is mentioned, this credit is called the author's byline. The beginning of each newspaper article (the first paragraph) is called the lead (one or two sentences long); the lead should summarize the main facts of the article, telling the 5 W's (who, what, when, where, and why) and how. The first paragraph should also contain a hook, something that grabs the reader's attention and makes the reader want to read the rest of the article. The nut graph is the paragraph that contains the core information about the story and tells the reader why the story is important. The remainder of the article contains supporting paragraphs that go into more detail about the topic, often including quotes and interesting facts. The less important information should appear later in the article, since the article may be cropped to make the article fit on the newspaper page. The reporter's opinions should not appear in the article - only the facts. Use clear and simple language. Keep the article short and to the point. Use active verbs (for example: Man bites dog) and not passive verbs (for example: Dog bitten by man). Each picture, graph or illustration should have a caption describing or explaining it.
